Another Eden Begins Supported Languages

Another Eden Begins launched with five languages — English, Japanese, Korean, Simplified Chinese and Traditional Chinese. This was confirmed by the official press release (GamesPress, April 4, 2026, signed by Studio Prisma head Shinnosuke Hirasawa) and matches the Steam store listing exactly. There are no plans listed for additional languages at launch, and notably the game ships without German, French, Spanish or Italian — languages that fans of the mobile original might expect. For the majority of players this is a non-issue; for European audiences it is the one real localization gap.

Interface, Subtitles & Audio

The full support matrix at launch:

  • English — interface, subtitles and full voice acting.
  • Japanese — interface, subtitles and full voice acting.
  • Korean — interface and subtitles only (no voice acting).
  • Simplified Chinese — interface and subtitles only.
  • Traditional Chinese — interface and subtitles only.
  • Every language is available on every platform — no region lock limits which languages you get.
  • Voice and text languages are separate settings, so a Japanese voice + English subtitle combo is standard.

Voice Languages

Only English and Japanese have full voice acting. The English dub covers the entire main story and uses the returning cast from the mobile game, recorded by Side UK; the Japanese dub is the original language track with the same returning Japanese ensemble. Chinese and Korean players get subtitles only — there is no Chinese or Korean dub, and the official site does not list one. If you want Japanese voices with English subtitles, that combination is fully supported — voice and text are separate settings.

How to Switch Language

On Steam, the language options follow the store listing — the game reads your Steam client language, and the in-game settings let you change interface, subtitle and voice language independently where the game provides them. On Nintendo Switch and Switch 2, language follows the system settings on the same five supported languages. The free demo includes the same language options as the full game, so you can verify your language before buying. If your Steam client is set to an unsupported language, the game falls back to English by default.

Japanese Physical Edition

The Japanese physical release is labeled "Multi-Language," which means the JP cartridges carry the same five languages as the digital versions — English interface, subtitles and full English voice acting included. This matters for overseas buyers: a Japanese retail copy works fine for an English-speaking player, and the Switch version is region-free per retail listings. The one thing to keep in mind is that the bundled serial codes are for the Japanese mobile version. If you plan to buy the Japanese box purely for the game itself, the language support is exactly what you would expect from any other region’s copy.

Language Availability by Platform

  • Steam: all five languages available; language follows your Steam client and can be changed in-game.
  • Switch / Switch 2 (digital): all five languages; follows the console system language.
  • Switch / Switch 2 (Japanese physical): labeled Multi-Language — the same five languages on the cartridge.
  • Western physical (2027, Aksys): expected to match the digital languages; official details pending.
  • Demo: identical language options to the full game on every platform.

vs the Mobile Game

The mobile game Another Eden: The Cat Beyond Time and Space supports Japanese, English, Korean, Traditional Chinese, German and French. Another Eden Begins actually ships with fewer languages at launch — it drops German and French compared to the mobile title, and adds Simplified Chinese. Italian and Spanish are not supported in either direction, which dedicated articles had to confirm for European players ("Italiano? No"). If German or French support is a dealbreaker for you, the mobile game remains the only version with those languages.

What Is Not Supported

  • No German or French at launch (the mobile game has both).
  • No Spanish or Italian.
  • No Chinese or Korean voice acting — subtitles only.
  • No Russian, Portuguese, Thai or other languages announced.
  • If a language is not listed on Steam, the game does not include it.
  • European players who need German or French must play the mobile version or wait for a potential update — nothing has been announced.

Buying Guide for Non-English Players

For players outside Japan and English markets, the practical advice: all five languages are present in every digital version, so the platform (Switch, Switch 2 or Steam) does not lock languages. Chinese and Korean players can buy any regional copy and get their subtitle support; the only edition differences are the physical extras and serial codes. If you only need subtitles, the Japanese physical edition is safe — it is explicitly multi-language. And if you are comparing storefronts, check the Steam listing first: it publishes the full language matrix up front, which the console stores do not always show clearly.
